How much does a class B licence cost at AS?
Our standard calculation for class B: base fee + 30 driving lessons + 12 special drives (5 country road, 4 motorway, 3 night, required by law) + practical test presentation fee + learning material. 30 lessons is a rough guide, many people need more or fewer.
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Base fee | €350.00 | |
| 30 driving lessons | 30 × €58.50 | €1,755.00 |
| 12 special drives | 12 × €63.00 | €756.00 |
| Practical test presentation fee | €200.00 | |
| Learning material | assumption: Berlin median, no price listed | €50.00 |
| Total | €3,111.00 |
For comparison, the Berlin median with the same formula: €235 + 30 × €56.25 + 12 × €62.11 + €170 + €50 = €2,887.82 (Fahrwahl analysis of 202 Berlin driving schools with class B prices, October 2026).
That puts AS about €223 (around 8 %) above the median. English theory costs extra: the English page lists €135 for it, without saying whether that is per lesson or for the full course.
Not included: the TÜV or DEKRA exam fees (according to current Berlin driving school price lists €24.99 for the theory test and €129.83 for the class B practical test), the licence application at the Bürgeramt, eye test, first aid course and passport photo. More on all extra costs in our Berlin driving licence cost guide (in German).
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Huge offer: nearly every class, automatic cars, saving packages, financing.
- Class B intensive course in 7 working days, which the website says only a few Berlin schools offer.
- English: practical lessons in English, theory in English at Tiergarten, study material in 12 languages.
- Theory every day, plus a pre-test.
- Dated price list that also shows the TÜV/DEKRA fees.
- Free cancellation of lessons up to three working days before (according to the English page).
Weaknesses
- €350 base fee and €200 test fee, both well above the median.
- Prices on the English and intensive course pages do not match the main price list.
- English theory costs extra and its scope is unclear.
- No price for study material, no exact opening hours on the website.
Who is AS Tiergarten a good fit for?
AS Tiergarten suits you if you live in Moabit, Tiergarten or Mitte and want a big, well-organised school. It is especially interesting for expats and international students who want both theory and driving lessons in English. If you need your licence fast, this is one of the few places with a 7-day course. A chain with everything under one roof is also handy for combinations like B + BE.
It is less of a fit if price is your top priority: with our calculation you pay several hundred euros more than at the cheaper Berlin schools. Note that the theory and practical tests themselves are run by TÜV or DEKRA, so check with the school which language options you have for the exam. Other schools in the district: driving schools in Mitte.

| Accessibility | 4 / 5 | Around 29 office hours a week, theory every day. Closed on Wednesdays. |
