| Item | Südstern | Berlin median | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|

The pricing model is the opposite of schools with a high base fee: cheap to start, but the 12 mandatory special drives cost about €155 more than the median in total, and the test fee is €80 more. English theory adds a €350 surcharge.
Class A2
| Item | A2 Südstern | Berlin median | Difference |

How much does a class B licence cost at Südstern?
Our standard calculation for class B: base fee + 30 driving lessons + 12 special drives (5 country road, 4 motorway, 3 night, required by law) + practical test presentation fee + learning material. 30 lessons is a rough guide, many people need more or fewer.
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Base fee | €49.99 | |
| 30 driving lessons | 30 × €56.25 | €1,687.50 |
| 12 special drives | 12 × €75.00 | €900.00 |
| Practical test presentation fee | €250.00 | |
| Learning material | assumption: Berlin median, no price listed | €50.00 |
| Total | €2,937.49 |
For comparison, the Berlin median with the same formula: €235 + 30 × €56.25 + 12 × €62.11 + €170 + €50 = €2,887.82 (Fahrwahl analysis of 202 Berlin driving schools with class B prices, October 2026).
Südstern ends up only about €50 above the median, so practically level. With English theory (€350) it is about €3,287. If you need fewer than 30 lessons, the low base fee helps less, because special drives and the test fee are fixed.
Not included: the TÜV or DEKRA exam fees (according to current Berlin driving school price lists €24.99 for the theory test and €129.83 for the class B practical test), the licence application at the Bürgeramt, eye test, first aid course and passport photo. Who is Südstern a good fit for?
Südstern is a good fit if you live in Kreuzberg, Neukölln or along the U7 and want lots of theory dates. For expats it is one of the few Berlin schools that explicitly offers English for both theory and practical lessons. Just add the surcharge to your budget from the start. It is also well equipped for motorcycle licences up to class A.
It is less of a fit if you expect to need only a few lessons and care mainly about the final price, or if you need a trailer licence (BE). Note that the tests themselves are run by TÜV or DEKRA, so ask the school which language options you have for the exam. More schools in the district: driving schools in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
